Insert obligatory “What a long, strange trip it’s been” reference here: Dead & Company have announced 3 dates at Golden Gate Park this August to celebrate 60 years of the Grateful Dead, along with openers Billy Strings, Sturgill Simpson, and the Trey Anastasio Band.
August 1st w/Billy Strings
August 2nd w/Sturgill “Johnny Blue Skies” Simpson
August 3rd, with Trey Anastasio Band
Formed in 2015, Dead and Co. pairs original members of the Dead with guitarist John Mayer in the Jerry Garcia spot (Anastasio performed a similar role for 50th anniversary shows).
Sidenote: Mayer also appears on “Drive,” a hard rock song from Ed Sheeran featuring Dave Grohl on drums. It’s part of the soundtrack for Brad Pitt’s FI, out June 27th. Sheeran recently shared a clip, and as you might imagine, it sounds awful.
