Peer through the mists of time and imagine 20 years ago: iPhones didn’t exist, you still had to print MapQuest directions, and the Star Wars prequel trilogy had just ended. Into this scene emerged My Morning Jacket’s Z, which found indie rockers interjecting a heavy dose of surreal soul, off the wall pop, and even a little reggae into their Southern fried sound with their fourth album.
This fall, My Morning Jacket will celebrate the 20th anniversary of Z by performing it at a set of special shows in the midst of their tour, with Z commemorations going down at Morrison, CO’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre (August 15), Los Angeles, CA’s Hollywood Palladium (August 19), Brooklyn, NY’s Brooklyn Paramount (October 16), Chicago, IL’s The Salt Shed (October 26), and Atlanta, GA’s Fox Theatre (November 1).
Tickets for all five Z – 20th Anniversary shows are on sale now.
