Indigo De Souza Hurricane Relief; Etran De L'Aïr Tix Giveaway; Pavement; Sleater-Kinney | Music News

Decoy’s groggy like a moondoggie but we’re rolling through. It’s MUSIC NEWS, your weekly blast of new music and stories from WASTOIDS. We’re brought to you by Hello Merch, and this week we’re psyched about new merch celebrating North Carolina-songwriter Indigo De Souza’s new EP, Wholesome Evil Fantasy.

On a more serious note: Like many people in the South, Indigo is dealing with the aftermath of the catastrophic Hurricane Helene. She shared heartbreaking images of her destroyed home. She’s collecting cash directly—to distribute to groups like Community Housing Coalition, Beacon of Hope food bank, and Holler Harm Reduction. You can find her on Venmo at INDIGOFARAWAY, so even if you can’t pick up some merch, you can certainly help chip in.

In other news: for the last few years, it seems the most exciting guitar music in the world has been coming from the Sahara Desert. Tinariwen, Mdou Moctar, and now, add Etran De L’Aïr to that list. Their name translates to “the stars of the air” and they recently released their third album, 100% Sahara Guitar.

Etran De L’Aïr are hitting the road, and on Wednesday, October 9 they roll into the Rebel Lounge in Phoenix, playing with post-punks The Sheaves. Do YOU wanna go for free? The fine folks at the Rebel have hooked us up with a free pair of tickets. Want ‘em? Head to our Instagram page, tag a friend you think might dig WASTOIDS, and we’ll pick one winner at random from all the comments.

Meanwhile out in New York City, head WASTOID Sam Means caught a screening of Alex Ross Perry’s Pavements wo nights ago at the New York Film Festival. He calls in via our hotline to give us his take.

And one more item: Sleater-Kinney has announced a deluxe edition of their 11th album, Little Rope. Coming out digitally on November 1st, the new edition includes three new songs and Frayed Rope Sessions, a set of live versions. But you’re gonna wanna get that physical edition, which comes enclosed in a gatefold jacket, held in a transparent polyethylene sleeve, and features beautiful red and blue wax. You know where to pre-order yours—Hello Merch.

Decoy's groggy but the vibe remains strong.
