Celtic punk band The Dropkick Murphys has dropped off the Punk in the Park touring festival citing donations festival owners made to the Trump 2024 campaign.
“Punk Rock and Donald Trump just don’t belong together,” the band posted in a caption to a Instagram video. Before the Murphys departed the lineup, hardcore bands Destiny Bond and Time Heist dropped off.
Cameron Collins of Brew Ha Ha addressed the concerns directly, posting on social media on July 23 that he feels the punk “community represents a wide range of views and backgrounds.” He stressed the personal nature of the donations, which were not made directly by the Punk in the Park organization.
Upcoming Punk in the Park dates include festivals in Worchester, MA, San Pedro, California, and Portland, Oregon, with bands like Bad Religion, Pennywise, and Descendents scheduled to perform at various stops.
