Come in and join the audience, come and go as needed during production breaks. What is Permanent Zoo? It’s a state of mind, a zone of surrealist lo-fi videography and DIY art-rock spirit. Or put more simply: Permanent Zoo is a brand new TV series coming this summer from WASTOIDS, created in collaboration with Andrew Cameron Cline and Candy Caballero Cline of Phoenix psych pop band Astrologer, in partnership with Los Angeles-based video artist Joe W. Sams, aka Uncle Dad Productions, First Studio LLC, and a wide cast of funny people, bands, and artists from the Arizona desert and beyond. Inspired by alternative, underground, and public access programs of the past—including David Lynch’s On The Air, Beyond Vaudeville, New Wave Theatre, Pee-Wee’s Playhouse, and The Flo and Eddie Show—Permanent Zoo has another tie to television’s past: the show will be shot on location at downtown Phoenix’s First Studios LLC, on the same soundstage where the mythic children’s show The Wallace and Ladmo Show was filmed. Join us for this special event this weekend—free snacks, free laughs, and lots of madcap energy.
