Bob Weir Remembered By Mountain Goats | Music News

Following the January 10th passing of Grateful Dead guitarist and vocalist Bob Weir, tributes have been pouring in from artists of all stripes, with everyone from Bob Dylan to Billy Corgan remembering Weir. But our favorite tribute so far has come from the Mountain Goats, who released a a new song, “Going to Fennario” via their Bandcamp. It’s not directly about Weir, but it’s inspired by him and his ethos, a folk strummer propelled by thumping double bass and Mikaela Davis’ shimmering harp. “I listen to the Grateful Dead all the time; their endless musical curiosity is a north star for anybody who seeks a life in music, plus anybody who tours in a rock band walks down paths cleared by the Dead…Thanks, Bob Weir…Your work lives on. Travel safely home,” bandleader John Darnielle says. The song is available on Bandcamp, where you set your price to purchase it, with all proceeds going to the American Cancer Society. Once you’ve purchased the single, head over to the Goats’ Hello Merch shop, where there’s apparel up for pre-order on sale, like this incredible jumpsuit.
